Pie…. just saying the word feels like a warm hug.  We recently discovered this quaint little pie café on our food forage through Notre Dame Street in the trendy St. Henri district.  There are so many unique restaurants and bakeries popping up that you have to revisit the area every few months to catch up.

We've featured some of them from this area, including Adamo Pizzeria, Arthurs' Nosh Bar, Foiegwa, Junior, Satay Brothers, and Dalla Rose

This time around, we were enjoying a few slices of delicious thin-crust pizza at Adamo Pizzeria, and decided to explore the neighborhood.   Within the same block and just a few stores down, we were delighted to find the perfect place for coffee and dessert  --- Rustique.

When you first enter, the aromas of freshly baked goods fill your senses.  The café is beautifully decorated, with cozy seating areas and a rustic brick and wood décor.   Elegant lists of baked goods are beautifully written on huge blackboards in back of the serving counter.   The seating areas are cozy, and the whole café has a relaxing atmosphere.

Their pies range from the cute little "lolly pies" to individual tarts to family-sized pies.   Pies are filled with delicious and sometimes unique fillings, like pear & chai.  The pie crusts are light, buttery, and flaky.  Our recent samplings were their single-portion apple pie, the pear & chai tart, and a pumpkin pie tart.  The pumpkin tart was gently spiced and topped with toasted pumpkin seeds.  The apple pie had a sugar coated crust, which crunched when you bit into it, and a chunky apple filling. Not too sweet and not too sour.

With a nice hot coffee or tea, it's a wonderful way to spend some quiet time.

If you're still hungry for a treat, or need an ice cream fix, just walk over to the next store, Dalla Rose, for the best ice cream ever.  If you see the CORN (yes, corn) ice cream, be sure to take it.   It's such a unique and delicious flavor.
