This Greek restaurant is one of our favorite restaurants when we want some good Greek food.   Once you’ve been here, you will definitely return.  The prices are reasonable, and the food is outstanding.  You can eat in, take out, and there’s even delivery.

There are 2 locations in Montreal :  one on Jean Talon, and another in Laval.   The Laval restaurant is located in a small strip meal on Samson Street in Laval.   Due to its popularity, the dining room has expanded and can now accommodate large groups of people.  The décor is full of Greek images -  beautiful photos of the Cycladic Islands, ionic columns, and a huge hand-painted mural on one of its walls.  The tables are nicely spaced, and the room is bright.

Their menu is pretty impressive, with different appetizers and entrees to suit every appetite and budget.  Village Grec has amazing appetizers and a more extensive menu with fish, grilled meats and other Greek tavern-like delicacies.

In my opinion, however, the piece de resistance is the Gyro platter.   It is a platter stacked with juicy marinated lamb AND pork, which is slow roasted on a spit, and carved onto your plate.   The meat is tender and tasty, and the platter is packed with salad, potatoes, and rice.  

For those who prefer chicken, there is the Chicken Gyro platter.   Tender pieces of marinated chicken breast meat are accompanied with a Greek or green salad, rice, and thick fries.   It goes perfectly with a nice cold beer, so try one of their Greek beers.

The prices are very reasonable, but the biggest secret is their LUNCH special.  There are many menu items that are featured for lunch, include dessert and coffee, and are a great bargain.

On any day of the week, including weekends, you can order either of the gyro platters PLUS dessert AND coffee for under $12 !!!!   The lunch special runs from 11:00-4:00, which is a big window of time.    On weekdays, the lunch specials are $1 cheaper, so you can stuff yourself and have dessert & coffee,  for under $11.

You really can’t go wrong.   The service is great, there’s ample parking, and the food is excellent.    Give it a try, but be warned.  You will absolutely have cravings for this place.
