Luxurious pizza (absolutely delicious and decadent)
Upon the strong recommendation of a fellow foodie, we ventured downtown for a unique slice. Little did we know that Pizzeria No. 900 already has 12 locations on and off the island of Montreal. Just on the island alone, there are 7 locations (Old Montreal, Griffintown, Bernard Street in MileEnd, Westmount, and locations on Monkland, Fleury, and Laurier). We've recently tried the new locations in Vaudreuil, and at the Centropolis in Laval, and have equally raving reviews.
The location we first visited is on Peel Street, just below Sherbrooke. It is a bright and airy place, with high ceilings, big windows, and bar and table seating. During warmer months, a small terrace stretches out to the sidewalk. It's close enough to the hustle and bustle of downtown, but just far enough to have a calm dining experience.

No matter which locaiton you choose to visit, you will always see their signature big white semi-domed brick oven. This is where the magic happens. It's also a warm and welcome sight, especially when it's a freezing day during one of Montreal's winters. The oven is hot and ready, and no sooner have you placed your order, that your pizza is placed in front of you.

Nothing goes better with pizza than a cold beer, so we ordered one of the locally brewed ones, Broken 7. We cut straight to the chase, but great salads and appetizers are also available. An adjacent table had ordered a few, and they looked fresh and plentiful.

The pizzas we ordered were :
-
Margherita, with added proscuitto
-
simple yet delicious, with thin and tender proscuitto slices placed on top of the pizza right before serving
-
-
Roasted Mushrooms and Proscuitto Ripieno
-
a very unique pizza rollup, lined with roasted mushrooms and savory proscuitto, and served with a fresh arugula salad
-
-
Porcini with White Truffle Oil
-
a heavenly thin white pizza, with textural porcini mushrooms, delicate savory cream sauce, and decadent truffle oil !!!
-
if you like truffles, this is an absolute MUST

We were very impressed with the different pizza varieties. They are great flavor pairings that work perfectly with the thin tasty pizza crusts. I had a hard time deciding, because they all sounded so good. The Spicy Pancetta with Figs kept calling my name, but that one will have to wait for our next visit.

Overall, we loved everything about this restaurant. It's not your average pizza joint. You can come alone, with a group, or with someone special for a nice meal. The area is nice, the restaurant has a nice modern decor, and the hustle of downtown is just two blocks away.

The staff at the 3 locations we visited were efficient and very helpful. They're super-friendly, upbeat, and a perfect representation of our city. As we were leaving, after our delicious meal, we were even thanked by the owners in two of the establishments.

Such acknowledgements go a long way. Definitely a place to try (and return to).
