If you want a unique experience AND have delicious ice cream, this is the place to go.  This Notre Dame Street ice cream parlor serves up delicious Thai-style ice cream, which is hand-rolled ice cream, native to Malaysia & Thailand.

The flavor combinations are endless, as you can customize the ice cream to achieve the flavor you want.   There are also flavors of the day, which appear on a blackboard behind the counter.

You are initially greeted by the sounds of chopping & scraping from behind the serving counter, which always raises people’s curiousity.    Upon closer investigation, it is the employees preparing and rolling the customized ice cream for customers.

The process of creating their tasty masterpieces is amazing to watch, and often recorded.  Cream is poured on icy cold stainless steel surfaces, and customized with flavors by very quick mixing and

chopping the ingredients, before being rolled into small tubes of ice cream and placed into their serving cups.

On our recent visit, we had the green tea rolls and the black sesame rolls   The subtlety of the finely chopped black sesame seeds mixed into the ice cream was a unique treat.

Lineups are not unusual on hot days, due to popularity and the individual process time per order.  But be patient, the show and the result are worth every second.

This place is great for ice cream fans of all ages.   It’s located close to the Atwater Market and to the canal, so it can be a great day excursion.
