Ola Kala -- “All is Good”.   After having tried a few of their dishes, the statement is true.   Everything IS good.  

 

Situated in a small strip mall on Du Souvenir Street in Laval,  this restaurant has a huge selection of authentic Greek dishes.    With competition from so many other Greek establishments nearby, a restaurant really has to put out some good food in order to stand out.  

 

The décor is fairly simple, but it’s roomy and bright.    There’s lots to choose from on their menu.  Selecting what to order is the biggest challenge.

 

One of their trademark dishes is the Spasti Chicken ---  marinated chicken pieces that are grilled to perfection.   You can either order half a chicken, or the entire one.    It’s worth the wait.

 

Their Greek potatoes are lemony and delicately roasted, and is a perfect accompaniment for the chicken.   Their fries are homemade, and are thick and golden brown.   Their Greek salad is huge, with fresh tomatoes and a slab of feta. 

 

We’ve had their platters, with a meat selection, salad, rice, and choice of potatoes.    They’re satisfying and very filling meals.   For the meat, there’s pork, chicken, or doner, and each can be served in a pita or as loose meat.There’s also quintessential lamb chops and calamari plates.

 

Of the platters, we’ve tried the 1-stick chicken souvlaki and the gyro pita platters.    The chicken stick is moist breast meat, and very nicely grilled.   The salad fills half the plate, and the vegetables are fresh and crisp.    The gyro pita was massive, and together with a choice of fries, you may not need to eat your next meal !

 

Give this place a try, and you’ll be saying Ola Kala at the end of the meal.
