Delicious grilled chicken, basted in tasty Piri Piri sauce

When you have a hackering for some good Portuguese chicken, and want to drive down to The Main, try Les 3 Maria on the West Island. Located in a small mall on Des Sources Boulevard, we've longed enjoyed their tasty chicken. It's also in the same mall as a fantastic Filipino restaurant, Beck's Filipino Cuisine.

The dining room is quaint, with white walls and colorful photos of Portugal. The menu offers quite a few different items, like grilled sardines or octopus, and chorico sausages. Their pork Bifana sandwich is great, served in their light and crunchy Portuguese Papo Secos buns.

The star, of course, is their chicken. Grilled to perfection and smothered with piri piri sauce, the chicken can be purchased on its own, or as part of a meal that includes a green salad, rice, and amazing French fries. You can choose leg or breast, or go for the entire chicken. You'll be asked if you want your chicken spicy or not spicy. We always opt for spicy. The piri piri sauce that'll be brushed on the chicken is more savory than spicy. Make sure to ask for some extra sauce on the side for dipping.

They do a brisk takeout business as well, so they offer family meals consist of any number of chickens, rice, fries, and salad. You can even call in your order before arriving.

To end the meal, there are little baked custards called Natas. If you've never had one, you should definitely try one. These traditional Portuguese treats are not overly sweet or eggy. With a coffee, they're the ultimate dessert to end your savory meal.
