This Chinatown establishment has been a favorite place of ours for years. Many new establishments have opened, and even restaurants now offer bubble tea on their menus, but this place remains a favorite to many.
Bubble tea, for those who have not yet heard of it, originated in Taiwan and its popularity has since crossed the ocean to North America. It consists of a tea base which is blended with juice, milk, or coffee. To finish the drink, either small chewy tapioca balls or fruit jelly strips are added. What you get is a cold dessert drink with something to chew on ! It's especially refreshing during the summer.

With its growing popularity, L2 has recently expanded to 8 locations throughout the Montreal area : Chinatown, Fairview Shopping Center (Pointe Claire), Vaudreuil, Carrefour Laval (Laval), Galeries d'Anjou, Galeries St. Bruno, and Crescent Street downtown.
Our favorite is the Chinatown location, which is the original location. It was recently renovated, and provides more room to sitting, and even ordering a light snack. Located upstairs on La Gauchetière Street, in the middle of Chinatown, this place offers its signature drinks, plus light meals and desserts. The atmosphere is relaxed, and is a good place to sit down after you’ve been walking around Old Montreal or enjoying one of the many festivals at the Quartier des Spectacles.

The flavor combinations for their drinks are endless, with a selection of additions ranging from the standard tapioca balls to flavored gel strips or pieces. Make sure to ask for the customer loyalty card. After 8 drinks, you’ll receive the next one for free.
Our favorites are the Black Tea Milk teas in the following flavors : mango, papaya, cantaloupe, Taiwanese milk tea. Of course, we add the tapioca balls to the drink as well. They’re fresh and cold, with a lingering hint of strong tea.
Open daily till late in the night, it’s a great standby. Just downstairs is a great place for Chinese pastries (Poon Kai), from which you can buy sweet or savory treats.
