If you're looking for a good spot for brunch on the West Island, you've got to try Kitchen 73.  Located in a strip mall on Brunswick Boulevard, just off Sources Boulevard, this eatery has a breakfast, brunch, as well as a lunch menu.

This restaurant now has a food truck and has expanded to 3 locations :  West Island, Laval, and Mirabel.  The restaurant in Dollard des Ormeaux has always been our preferred location.

The restaurant is decorated in a modern black, white, and red theme, and the DDO location is particularly striking because of its high ceilings.  In addition, there are floor to ceiling windows which let in a lot of natural sunlight.  The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is lively.  There's ample parking because it's located in a mall, across from the Guzzo movie theater.

Their menu is huge, and their brunch offerings will make your head spin.  With all their brunch platters, you get a bowl of fresh fruit, toast of your choice (take the rye !), and the most delicious potatoes you'll ever find in a breakfast joint.   These potatoes are diced and fried till golden, then tossed in a mixture of delicious green shallots, olive oil, garlic, and parmesan cheese.   Anyone who has ever been here will always remember those potatoes !

All the eggs served are omega-3 enriched, and they boast that they do not use preservatives in their pancake or crepe batters.   They also make their own amazing hot sauce, which go perfectly with the potatoes.   It's not overly spicy to the point of discomfort, just savory with a bit of heat.

We've had a few of their breakfast offerings, like the “Le Nord-Est”, which is their 3 egg white omelette with Norwegian smoked salmon, onions, capers and extra virgin olive oil.   That was really decadent.  “Le Lavalois” is a 3-egg omelette filled with spinach, asparagus, cheddar and mozzarella.

Our favorites are the “Le Popeye” omelette from their healthy section.  It's a 3 egg white omelette, loaded with fried rapini, asparagus, spinach, onions and mozzarella.   “Le MonteBello” is another favorite.  The omelette is made of 3 egg whites, folded over asparagus, spinach, onions, and cherry tomatoes, then topped with bocconcini, arugula and balsamic vinegar.   Make sure to ask for the RYE toast, and for their complimentary hot sauce.

We really enjoy coming here.  Although they offer lunch options, we've always regarded this restaurant as a brunch spot; a great spot to spoil yourself and linger over endless cups of coffee.
