Tucked away on The Main, between Pine and Duluth, is this amazing burger restaurant.   Unassuming and friendly, it is NOT your usual burger joint, not a typical greasy spoon, and not your high-end burger bar.  If you’re craving  a tasty burger, with some really original taste combinations, we can’t recommend this place enough.

Located on St. Laurent Boulevard, it is right across the street from La Vieille Europe, and on the same block as the world famous Schwartz’s Deli.   Considering their location, the interior is surprisingly roomy.   There’s a long counter, in front of the open kitchen, and several tables that can be configured to suit any number of customers.

We’ve been here several times, whenever the carnivorous urges hit.   We’ve always ordered the beef, but there are other protein choices :  chicken and vegan.   The beef is grass-fed and mountain-raised, from farms in Mont Laurier, and the patties range from 6 ounces to 9 ounces.   The chicken can be grilled OR deep-fried, and the vegan burgers are a mix of roasted vegetables and grains.

Some of the favorites that stand out are :

  • Jun San burger

  • Tarantino burger

  • Big Boss burger

The Jun San burger is truly unique.  Sweet ginger slices, fresh arugula, onions, and bacon are piled on top of a juicy burger drizzled with teriyaki sauce and sesame oil.  It’s an absolute flavor explosion.

The Tarantino burger is decadent, with truffle mayo, bacon jam, fresh arugula, tomato, and smoked raclette.   Does life get any better ?

The Big Boss burger is all about the meat.  It’s a fully loaded burger with melted cheddar cheese and spicy mayo.

The burgers, combined with the plentiful toppings and sweet buns, are so filling that you hardly have to order the French fries, but they’re available.    There are even Cheese Fries, which are their homemade fries smothered in a cheese sauce.   To add to the madness, you can also order a fried egg on top of any of the burgers, to add to the messy dripping meatfest.

If you still have room after the burger, they’ve got a Cookie a la Mode that ‘s worth having.   It’s a warm large cookie, served with ice cream and maple syrup.    Great for sharing, but you might just want it for yourself.
