Dumplings !   Once you've had really good ones, you'll always return for more.

This recent addition to the West Island restaurant scene offers a Chinese treat that had only been available in Chinatown.  You can now enjoy this quick snack, lunch, or dinner option on the West Island.  It's conveniently located in a small mall on St. Charles Boulevard, with ample parking.

Different vegetable and meat combinations are wrapped in soft wonton skins, and are served boiled, steamed, or pan-fried.   There are so many filling varieties, so try them all to find your favorite.   These are not the mass-produced frozen dumplings that can be found in our food store.  The authentic taste and texture of the filling sets this place apart.  You'll definitely taste the difference.

On our recent visit, we tried their won ton soup and noodles, and ordered some steamed dumplings.  Since we usually order the pork, leek, and shrimp dumplings from other dumpling places, we tried their version to compare.   They were very tasty, and each dumpling contained a shrimp in its entirety.  We had taken out our order, so we pan fried the dumplings ourselves at home.

We enjoyed our iniital samples so much that we returned a few days later, to buy FROZEN versions of the same dumplings, to have them readily at hand for those cravings.  They make convenient snacks, quick lunches, or go-to appetizers when you're in a pinch.  Just make a quick dipping sauce of soy sauce, a drop of sesame oil, and a bit of Sriracha, and it's bon appetit.

 

Each dumpling order consists of 12 dumplings.  They're really easy to eat, so mix and match your orders.   For 2-3 people, get a good sample, and order a dozen steamed with one stuffing, and another dozen pan-fried with a different stuffing.
